U.S. Art: Editor’s Choice

Everyone has an artistic bias and mine is figures. The way I see it, people make for intrinsically intriguing - and challenging - subjects. Take, for example, Henry Asencio's "Unveiling" ($1600, 195 s/n), a new mixed media release by Crown Thorn Publishing. In this deceptively simple scene, Asencio finds a sensual subject in a woman undressing, but with sweeping brushstrokes, classic lighting, and a buttery palette the talented artist brings an oft-depicted image a certain specificity and poignancy.
